The Region
Lausanne and Geneva are not far from our region that offers a wide range of leisure activities. You can easily reach them either by car or by train.
In the summer :
You will indulge in water sports on Lake Joux such as water skiing, windsurfing or simply swimming or fishing. There is also a tennis court near the hotel. Take a bicycle or go for a walk through the forest to discover our region.
All season activities :
Dive into the indoor swimming pool at the Joux Valley Sports Centre. Its pleasant setting houses also an ice rink, multipurpose hall, tennis courts, gym and weights room, shooting range, aquatics centre, conference room and restaurant, among other amenities.

Excursions

Go visit Juraparc on Mount Orzeires ! This quite exceptional Swiss park is situated halfway between Vallorbe and the Joux Valley. The Dent de Vaulion mountain peak, a real chamois’ paradise, towers majestically over the park. Fir forests border on pastures with grazing american bisons. You can also watch wolves and European brown bears from a safe distance since you will be on a 400 meter long and 3 meter high footbridge. The park’s rear side ends at a 10 to 20 meter high, natural rock cliff.

Epicureans can already look forward to taste many unusual regional specialities such as Vacherin cheese, Charbonnières snails, silver hakes an gentian schnapps. Certain chalets of mountain pastures still make their own cheese. This is the case between June and September for the two chalets of Grands Plats. Don’t hesitate and stop to watch the master cheese maker at work.

Winter
You can’t get bored of cross-country skiing in the Joux Valley thanks to 220 km of groomed tracks. The valley is also renowned for ski touring. Sledging and snowshoeing both make for an unusual way of exploring this charming region. The lake freezes over in the middle of winter which makes it a perfect playground for ice skaters and ice yachters. You can also ice skate at the rink of Sentier.

Map & Directions

The hotel de Ville is situated in the village centre of Sentier in the Vallée de Joux, near the Lac de Joux in Switzerland.

By car :
Arriving on the motorway A1 take the exit n° 11-Nyon between Geneva and Lausanne and continue direction St-Cergue. Pass the French border in La Cure, turn right and continue on the D415. Pass the Swiss border and follow direction Brassus, then Le Chenit/Le Sentier. The hotel is situated in the village centre on the main road to the left.

For the less hurried and the more economical there is also the possibility to take the exit n° 12-Gland. Continue direction Begnins via the Col du Marchairuz as far as Brassus and follow then above instructions.

Arriving on the motorway A1 from Bern, continue, at the motorway junction n° 23-Essert-Pittet, direction Vallorbe. At the end of the semi-motorway follow the Vallée de Joux, then Le Sentier. The hotel is situated in the village centre on the main road to the right.

By train :
Vallorbe train station, at a distance of 19 km from the hotel, is served by regional trains from Lausanne as well as by the TGV Lausanne-Paris. There is also the possibility to reach this station by postal bus from Yverdon-les-Bains train station. From there regional trains operate hourly between Vallorbe and Le Sentier- Orient train station, at a distance of 200 m from the hotel.

By plane :
From Geneva airport , at a distance of 60 km, take the motorway A1 direction Lausanne and follow then above instructions.
By public transport take the train as far as Vallorbe train station with change in Lausanne.

From Basle airport , at a distance of 214 km or Zurich airport, at a distance of 245 km, take the motorway as far as Bern and follow then above instructions.
By public transport take the train as far as Yverdon-les- Bains train station and follow then above instructions.
